S&Y Scholars is the vision brought to you by two incoming university juniors, who both graduated from Ja Jolla High in 2023. Richard and Sam have made it their mission to provide guidance in the everlasting stressful world of college admissions.

 

For a brief, more formal introduction;

 

My name is Samuel Smith (the shorter one), and I am currently an incoming Junior at the University of Michigan studying Economics and Psychology.  Some fun things about me are I currently am a practice player on the University of Michigan Women's Basketball Team, I am an avid Chess Player and have been playing since my time at La Jolla High School, and I won the 2023 New York Times College Essay Challenge, selected as one of four individuals in the nation. I am currently interning for a local Wealth Management firm here in San Diego!

The taller guy pictured on the right, that is my partner, Richard Yoon. Richard is currently an incoming Junior at Columbia University after spending his first two years in Reims, France, under a dual-degree program offered through Columbia & Science-Po. Richard is an avid basketball player, has done robotics for over 10 years, and was the Co-President of Mock Trial at La Jolla High. He is currently interning for a England Ponetcillo & St. Clair here local to San Diego as well.
